2-(Chloromethyl)pyridine hydrochloride was used as reagent in base catalyzed alkylation of p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene and p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene in DMF. It was used in the synthesis of Gd3+ diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid bisamide complex, a Zn2+-sensitive magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent.

Aplicaciones
El clorhidrato de 2-(clorometil)piridina se utilizó como reactivo en la alquilación catalizada por una base de p-terc-butilcalix[6]areno y p-terc-butilcalix[5]areno en DMF. También se utilizó en la síntesis del complejo de bisamida de ácido dietilenetriaminapentaacético y GD3+, un agente de contraste para la adquisición de imágenes por resonancia magnética sensible a Zn2+.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, acetona (de 10 a 50 mg/ml) y etanol 95 %(100 mg/ml).

Notas
Higroscópico. Almacenar en gas inerte y alejado de agentes oxidantes fuertes. Mantener en un recipiente bien cerrado. Almacenar en un lugar fresco y seco y en recipientes bien sellados.
