2-(4-Methoxyphenyl)ethanol is used as an internal standard in the fluorous biphasic catalysis reaction. It is used in the preparation of 4-(2-iodoethyl)phenol, by refluxing it with 47% hydriodic acid. It may be used in the preparation of (2R*,4R*)-1-n-butyl-2-methyl-4-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline and (2R*,4S*)-1-n-butyl-2-methyl-4-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4- tetrahydroquinoline. It is used for foods, perfumes, and cosmetics.

Aplicaciones
El 2-(4-metoxifenil)etanol se utiliza como patrón interno en la reacción de catálisis bifásica fluorosa. Se emplea en la preparación de 4-(2-yodoetil)fenol, al refluirlo con ácido hidriódico 47 % y se puede utilizar en la preparación de (2R*,4R*)-1-n-butilo-2-metil-4-(2-oxopirrolidin-1-il)-6-metoxi-1,2,3,4-tetrahidroquinolina y (2R*,4S*)-1-n-butilo-2-metil-4-(2-oxopirrolidin-1-il)-6-metoxi- 1,2-3,4-tetrahidroquinolina. Se emplea en alimentos, perfumes y cosméticos.

Solubilidad
Soluble en DMSO y metanol.

Notas
Incompatible con agentes oxidantes. Almacenar en un lugar fresco y seco dentro de recipientes bien sellados. Almacenar a 4 °C.
