2,4,6-Triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate is used as a sensitizer to carry out the photo oxidation of cathecol. It is also used in the preparation of three N-alkylpyridinium photosensitizers by reacting with (1R,2S)-(-)-norephedrine, (S)-(+)-2-(aminomethyl)pyrrolidine and (R)-(-)-1-cyclohexylethylamine.

Aplicaciones
El 2,4,6-trifenilpirilio tetrafluoroborato se utiliza como sensibilizador para llevar a cabo la fotooxidación del catecol. También se utiliza en la preparación de tres fotosensibilizadores de N-alquilpiridinio al reaccionar con (1R,2S)-(-)-norefedrina, (S)-(+)-2-(aminometil)pirrolidina y (R)-(-)-1-ciclohexiletilamina.

Solubilidad
Insoluble en agua, alcohol etílico y éter dietílico. Soluble en ácido trifluoacético.
