2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-Octafluoro-1-pentanol is used as a cosurfactant in the synthesis of silver and silver iodide nanocrystals. It was also used in the synthesis of Ag2S nanocrystals with a characteristic surface plasmon resonance absorption at 330nm.

Aplicaciones
El 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoro-1-pentanol se utiliza como cosurfactante en la síntesis de nanocristales de yoduro de plata y plata. También se utilizó en la síntesis de nanocristales de Ag2S con una absorción de resonancia plasmática superficial característica de 330 nm.
