12-Molybdophosphoric acid hydrate is used as a precursor to hybrid organic-inorganic based molecular batteries with application as cation-insertion electrode. It finds application as an analytical reagent in thin layer chromatography for staining phenolics, hydrocarbon waxes, alkaloids and steroids. It acts as a reactant for the preparation of catalysts for the nitration of aromatic compounds, highly dispersed MoOx/CNTs (carbon nanotubes) as a support for Pt catalysts and anchored Wilkinson catalyst.

Aplicaciones
El hidrato de ácido 12-molibofosfórico se utiliza como precursor de las baterías moleculares híbridas de base orgánica-inorgánica con aplicación como electrodo de inserción de cationes. Se emplea como reactivo analítico en cromatografía de capa fina para la tinción de fenólicos, ceras de hidrocarburos, alcaloides y esteroides. Actúa como reactivo en la preparación de catalizadores para la nitración de compuestos aromáticos, MoOx/CNTs (nanotubos de carbono) altamente dispersos como soporte para catalizadores de Pt y catalizadores anclados de Wilkinson.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, etanol y éter.

Notas
Higroscópico. Incompatible con materiales orgánicos y metales en polvo.
