1-Hexyne is used in the preparation of tricyclic isoindolinone scaffold by undergoing hydrozirconation and ring-closing metathesis. It is used to prepare trans-1,2-bis(5-thianthreniumyl)alkene tetrafluoroborate by reacting with thianthrene cation radical tetrafluoroborate.

Aplicaciones
El 1-hexino se utiliza en la preparación de soportes de isoindolinona tricíclica mediante hidrocirconación y metátesis con cierre de anillo. Se utiliza para preparar tetrafluoroborato de trans-1,2-bis(5-tiantreniumil)alqueno reaccionando con tetrafluoroborato del catión radical del tiantreno.
