1-Adamantanemethanol was used in the synthesis of axially disubstituted silicon(IV) phthalocyanines. It is used as a reagent in the synthesis of adamantane and noradamantane based histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. It is also used as a reagent in the synthesis of (1-adamantyl)methyl glycidyl ether, a versatile building block for living polymerization.

Aplicaciones
El 1-adamantanometanol se utilizaba en la síntesis de ftalocianinas de silicio(IV) axialmente disustituidas. Se emplea como reactivo en la síntesis de inhibidores de la histona deacetilasa (HDAC) a base de adamantano y noradamantano para el tratamiento del cáncer. También se utiliza como reactivo en la síntesis de éter glicidílico de (1-adamantil)metilo, un compuesto orgánico versátil para la polimerización viva.

Solubilidad
Insoluble en agua. Solubilidad en metanol (casi transparente).

Notas
