Useful for stabilizing sulfhydryl-containing enzymes1,4-Dithio-DL-threitol is used as a protective agent in preventing oxidation of thiol groups and reagent for the reduction of disulfide groups in proteins. It is employed to investigate a-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase function, flavin cofactors in proteins and protein moieties involved in peroxide reduction. It is also useful for stabilizing sulfhydryl-containing enzymes.

Aplicaciones
Útil para la estabilización de enzimas que contienen sulfhidrilo. El 1,4-ditio-DL-treitol se utiliza como agente protector para prevenir la oxidación de los grupos tioles y reactivo para la reducción de los grupos disulfuros en proteínas. Se emplea para investigar la función deshidrogenasa del a-cetoglutarato, cofactores de la flavina en proteínas y en las fracciones de proteínas que participan en la reducción de peróxido. También es útil para estabilizar las enzimas que contienen sulfhidrilo.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, etanol, cloroformo, éter dietílico, acetona, éter y acetato de etilo.

Notas
Sensible al aire e higroscópico. Almacenar en lugar fresco. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, agentes de reducción y álcalis.
