1,4-Dibromobenzene is used in the synthesis of 2,5-dibromoacetophenone, triarylamines and trans- stilbenes. It is widely used as a heavy liquid solvent as well as a motor oil additive. It finds application as an intermediate in the manufacture of organic chemicals such as dyes, pharmaceuticals and flame retardants for polymeric materials.

Aplicaciones
El 1,4-dibromobenceno se utiliza en la síntesis de 2,5-dibromoacetofenona, triarilaminas y transestilbenos. Se utiliza ampliamente como disolvente líquido pesado, así como aditivo para aceites de motor. Encuentra su aplicación como intermediario en la fabricación de productos químicos orgánicos, como colorantes, productos farmacéuticos y pirorretardantes para materiales poliméricos.

Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol, benceno, cloroformo, tolueno y tetracloruro de carbono. Insoluble en éter.
