1,2,6-Hexanetriol is used as moisturizing agent (cremes), as solvent (pharmaceuticals) and as crosslinker in plastics. It acts as wetting agent of tobacco and special hydraulic fluid. It is used in the production of alkyd resins, celluloid, polyurethane and synthetic rubber.

Aplicaciones
El 1,2,6-Hexanetriol se utiliza como agente hidratante (cremas), como disolvente (productos farmacéuticos) y como entrecruzante en plásticos. También se usa en la propulsión de cohetes. Actúa como agente humectante del tabaco y de fluidos hidráulicos especiales. Además, se utiliza en la producción de resinas alquídicas, celuloide, poliuretano y caucho sintético.

Solubilidad
Miscible en agua y acetona. Soluble en metanol.

Notas
Higroscópico. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, cloruros ácidos y anhídridos ácidos. Almacenar en gas inerte seco.
