α-D-Mannose pentaacetate is used for glycosylation in a study that assessed novel synthetic inhibitors of selectin-mediated cell adhesion. It has also been used in a study to investigate stereospecific entry to spiroketal glycosides using alkylidenecarbene C-H insertion.
