Descripción
Oleyl alcohol is used in softening and lubrication of textile fabrics, in the production of carbon paper, stencil paper, and printing ink. It finds application in cosmetic products viz skin creams, lotions as a thickner, and in hair conditioners and hair coating shampoos. It is utilized as an antifoaming agent and cutting lubricant, as the precursor for the preparation of its sulfuric ester derivatives, which are used in detergents and wetting agents. It plays a vital role in various formulations for drug delivery.

El alcohol oleílico se utiliza para suaviar y lubricar tejidos textiles, en la producción de papel de carbono, papel de estarcido y tinta de impresión. Se aplica en productos cosméticos, en concreto, cremas para la piel, lociones como un espesante, y en acondicionadores y champús para el pelo. Se utiliza como agente antiespumante y lubricante de corte, como precursor para la preparación de sus derivados de éster sulfúrico, que se utilizan en detergentes y agentes humectantes. Desempeña un papel vital en varias formulaciones para la administración de fármacos.
Solubilidad
Miscible con alcohol y éter. Ligeramente miscible con tetracloruro de carbono. No miscible con agua.
