Descripción

Novobiocin sodium salt, CAS # 1476-53-5, is a topoisomerase II inhibitor capable of inhibiting DNA synthesis. This compound is produced by Streptomyces nieveus and shows antibiotic activity.

Topoisomerase II inhibitorNovobiocin sodium salt is effective an antistaphylococcal agent used in the treatment of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is also used to inhibit the activity of retroviral RNA-dependent DNA polymerase as well as inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase and eukaryotic DNA topoisomerase.

Inhibidor de la topoisomerasa II. La sal sódica de novobiocina es un eficaz agente antiestafilocócico utilizado en el tratamiento de Staphylococcus aureus resistente a la meticilina (MRSA). También se utiliza para inhibir la actividad de la ADN polimerasa retroviral dependiente de ARN, así como inhibidor de la ADN girasa bacteriana y de la ADN topoisomerasa eucariota.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua a 100 mg/ml. También soluble en etanol o DMSO. Soluble en agua, etanol, dimetilsulfóxido y metanol.
